Going On Tour With The Band!

Updated: Nov 6, 2023

I keep having this visual image of Liesl, Debbi and I shoving bags and equipment into the back of a minivan, waving to our families and hitting the open road to play concert dates, in small venues, across the country!

I think this is such an apt analogy for entrepreneurship:

  • I spend more time communicating with my partners right now, then I do with my sweetie or my kids!

  • Now that we are on the road… we are figuring out how to work together, how we each process information, when to meet, what work is best done independently… all of the subtle intimacies of a close, long-term relationship!

  • We have practiced and practiced and practiced our craft and have launched our best work to date… is it good enough? will anyone care? is anyone coming to our concerts?

Starting a new business, with new partners is one of the most interesting things that I have done in my life. I am having a blast, scared shitless and crazy excited… all at the same time!

The two most illuminating things that have come out of being on tour together are… control and trust!

I have been working solo for most of my adult life and I have always just made the decisions that felt best to me. Now, we have collective discussions, give and take, come to a consensus and find a decision that feels best for all of us.

I really enjoy this process and truly understand the saying “many heads are better than one”, but there have been times over the past few months that my “five-year-old control freak” wants to stomp her feet and not consult with anyone.

This occasional reaction has surprised me when it surfaces, and I am having quite a delightful, self-reflective time discovering the triggers, thoughts and old beliefs that cause it to rise. The biggest thing that keeps coming up… “I do not trust anyone to do it as good as I will!”

This is such a bullshit thought! This lack of trust and thirst for control have nothing to do with Liesl & Debbi at all. They are two of the best intuitive healers that I know, and I consider them my peers in every way.

As I keep breathing and observing my thoughts when these uncomfortable emotions pop up… I am growing, I am learning to co-create and I am realizing that it is ME who I do not trust!

Honestly, I am really great at helping people heal their bodies, doing artwork and design and having honest communication… but beyond that, I am teetering between mediocre and ineffective at the computer stuff, organizational graphs, spreadsheets, & the like. My partners are both way, way, way better than I am at streamlining business and organizational processes and staying on a timeline!

There are not very many opportunities, as an adult… to grab two of your best friends by the hand and go about creating something new, innovative and fun!

We perfectly complement each other's strengths and weaknesses and I know, without a doubt, that I am currently doing the most meaningful work of my entire life. I am learning to surrender to the process, trust others, trust myself and just be brave enough to get on the damn bus!

So… having said all of that… I would like to personally invite you to our very 1st concert date!

A place for the old Breath Therapy gang and our new friends to gather, connect, hug, catch up and begin the process of truly healing our own bodies!
