My Five Favourite Acupressure Points!

I love acupressure & acupuncture… I think that they are both the quickest, easiest ways to do a deep treatment on your energy system… which, in turn, is the quickest, easiest way to affect changes in your physical body!

I spent many years as a massage therapist not knowing the slightest thing about acupressure points. I would just watch little energy fireworks erupt at different spots on my clients body and massage the one that looked the biggest and brightest. I always felt (and still feel) like my guides were leading me through the treatment in the most efficient healing order.

Those little firework spots gained names and meaning once I started working with my sweet acupuncturist friend Micah Yoder. She introduced me to cupping, we co-taught a community acupuncture class together and we have been exchanging monthly sessions with each other for several years.

She is a brilliant, intuitive healer and I got to ask her questions like… “Every person that I work with has a great big firework on the front of their shin, just below their knee… what is that?” “Stomach 36” she replied. “The main energy re-set point in the body. I needle that point on almost every one of my clients” and we would then have a lovely discussion about the benefits of whatever point I was asking about.

As our friendship and my knowledge grew, I began to add acupressure to my own treatment regime, to my Breath Therapy classes and to my phone and table sessions with clients.

Here are Five Acupressure Points that work so damn well that I share and teach them over and over again!

Stomach 36

If you were only going to stimulate one acupressure point in your whole life… Stomach 36 is it!

It is named “leg 3 mile” because when stimulated, it allows an exhausted person to walk 3 more miles!

It is one of the major reset points in the whole body!

This point:

…relieves exhaustion

…boosts energy flow and vitality

…strengthens the immune system

…resolves digestive disorders (bloating, diarrhea, constipation, nausea)

…great for PMS, depression and insomnia

Landmark the Stomach 36 Point (see diagram below)

…massage in all directions

…hold gentle pressure on the point

…INHALE and puff your belly out

…EXHALE and gently pull your belly back towards your spine

…Continue until the breathing pattern flows and feels easy!

…repeat on the other leg

Do this one often & you will see great results! ❤️

Kidney 27

This acupressure point is another one of the body’s main reset buttons!

This point:

...opens up energy flow in the upper body

...increases mental clarity

...improves physical coordination

...decreases anxiety and stress

…boosts vitality

Landmark the K27 points (see diagram below) (they are usually a bit sore!)

...simultaneously tap both sides gently

...close your eyes and find a rhythm

...INHALE up your spine and out the top of your head

...EXHALE down your spine and off the tip of your tailbone

...continue until your breath feels clear and easy and the points are not as sore! ❤️

I have started my day with this pattern for many years...it helps to set the frequency of my upcoming experiences and interactions!

It has become a good, reliable, calming friend that can help me re-center within a couple of breaths!

Gallbladder 30

This acupressure spot is my favorite for low body pain release!

No one gets off of my massage table without having had a silicone cup on this little sweetheart!

It releases low back, hip and knee pain! Eases sciatica and floods the reproductive organs with energy and flow!

🎾 A Tennis ball on the wall...on this spot...everyday!

Your hip, bum and leg muscles will love you!❤️

Landmark the Gallbladder 30 point (see diagram below)

…gently lean into the tennis ball on the wall and make sure that you are standing with nice tall posture

...INHALE into the discomfort

...EXHALE and relax down your leg and forward into your hip

...continue until your breath flows easily

...repeat on the other side

Spleen 6

Spleen 6 is named “Three Yin Intersection” because the Spleen, Liver and Kidney Meridians all pass through this point!

It is the most influential acupressure point for women's health!

Stimulating Spleen 6 influences all three organs and energy channels!

It is one of the primary points used to aid the reproductive, urinary and digestive systems... as well as soothing emotions and promoting sleep! 💤

Spleen 6 is also commonly used to increase blood circulation to the uterus and treat menstrual pain! (I can attest that it works wonders on menstrual cramps... hold for 2 mins. and most of the cramping is gone!)

Landmark the Spleen 6 point (see diagram below) by crossing the right ankle over the left knee

...massage the point in all directions for 10 - 20 secs.

...gently hold the point

...INHALE from your big toe, diagonally across the leg, to the outside of the hip & then up the side torso to the armpit

...EXHALE armpit, down torso to hip, diagonally across the leg & off the big toe

...you are breathing your Spleen Meridian

...continue until the breath flows easily

...give the point one more little massage

...repeat on other side

Large Intestine 4

This little sweetheart is so awesome at getting rid of headaches!

Also… toothaches, jaw pain, carpal tunnel, tennis elbow, sore neck, shoulder pain, ear aches!

It helps with anything along the whole ear, jaw, shoulder, arm line!

If you hurt anywhere along that line… this will help to fix it! Seriously… it is amazing!

Landmark the Large Intestine 4 point (see diagram below) (it is the size of a shirt button and will feel really sore… if you cannot find it, try pressing a little harder… it is quite deep in the webbing)

…massage it (10 - 20 sec)

…gently hold

…INHALE from your pointer finger, up your arm, over your shoulder, up your neck to the outside flare of your nostril

…EXHALE down from the flare of your nostril back off your pointer finger

…continue until the breath pattern flows easily

…repeat on the other side

Those are, hands down, my favourite acupressure points!

It is like having a medicine cabinet right in your fingertips!
