Perspective...

Updated: Nov 22, 2023

Is the glass half full or half empty?

Different perspectives of the same experience is what makes our world so interesting!

If we all perceived or thought the same thing when presented with a situation there would be no room for discussion and growth or even new ideas or inventions.

What I have learned recently is that the ability to choose or change my perspective is one of the most POWERFUL gifts available! I try everyday to change my perspective on at least one thing in my environment. Looking at something in a new light or with a different mindset has been an enlightening experience and I have unexpectedly found that my curiosity is also being stimulated, along with the desire to learn how and why others view the world in the way that they do.

There is no short supply of things to ponder… in our ever changing and tumultuous world there is a lot of material to sift through! I don’t always understand why some have the perspectives that they do, but I find myself reflecting more on why MY perspective is so different from theirs.

I understand that culture, values, beliefs and an individual’s own experiences play into how they view the world, but I also wonder why there are such drastic differences in perspective and is it even possible to change that view? How much does ‘choice’ play into it? Can one actually choose to view things in a completely different light or is our belief system so rigid and ingrained that this is not a probable outcome? Would we rather be ‘right’ or have a good experience? If it wasn’t possible to change ones’ perspective, I think the world would have probably imploded years ago.

I CHOOSE to believe that perspective is fluid and changeable.

In my mind… what do you have to lose? Why wouldn’t you try and look at things from a different point of view? So much new knowledge to upload and think about – it is actually rather exhilarating!

Small choices are where it’s at:

· Listen more, talk less

· Seek out conversations with individuals that have a differing perspective

· Question where your current belief came from

· Open your consciousness to new ideas

· Choose ‘Hell Yeah Prince George’ vs ‘WTF Prince George’ - two Facebook page options in our community

Changing your perspective allows you to grow and choose a different path.

It can allow you to become the person that you want to be.

It can challenge your long-standing subconscious beliefs.

It can make you a happier person.

It doesn’t matter if you view the cup as half full or half empty… because you always have the choice to refill the cup anytime you want!

Much Love
