The First Leaf Lets Go
Sweet Friends, are you feeling it too?🍃
You know, that moment every August when the season quietly begins to turn…
the light softens and slants a little lower in the evenings,
the mornings carry the faintest coolness, and
somewhere in the trees the very first leaf lets go and quietly floats to the ground.
Nothing dramatic ~ summer isn't gone ~ but if you slow down enough to notice, you can feel the season beginning to turn.
I've come to believe our bodies feel this shift long before our calendars catch up. Maybe you've noticed this too…
recognizing a subtle craving for earlier evenings,
a little more rest,
a pull toward soup instead of salad.
That's not you slowing down in some worrisome way. Not at all! Rather it’s your beautiful body doing exactly what bodies have always done: sensing the season and gently preparing to meet it. Isn't that remarkable?
So, here's my simple invitation for this week.
Rather than clinging to summer or rushing toward fall, let's practice just being here, in this in-between and golden moment.
Step outside in the evening.
Take a few slow, grateful breaths.
Let yourself really notice the light.
Feel the air.
Let the little bittersweetness of a season winding down be exactly what it is… no worry or fixing required.
There is truly a quiet richness in these transitions that we miss entirely when we hurry through them.
Similarly, aging with grace and vitality has never been about resisting change, it's about meeting each season ~ in nature and in ourselves ~ with awareness and tenderness.
The season is beginning to turn, sweet friends.
Let's breathe it in while it lasts, one sweet breath at a time. 🧡
Love,
