Are you a better giver than receiver?
I know for sure that I am, and I also know for sure that being uncomfortable receiving contributes to the feelings of burnout, anxiety and self-doubt!
Last January 2023, I was in a deep dark hole! I had been working my ass off for the past 3 years, learning, creating and pursuing my online business. I was blaming my feelings on… digital burnout… too much time online. I am sure that was part of it, but I have come to understand that the greater part of what I was feeling was an imbalance between my giving and my receiving!
I was on the hairy edge of quitting! I have such big dreams! I know how to help people heal themselves! I have worked so hard! How could I possibly be considering walking away from my life’s work?
As I sat in meditation one morning in late January, I heard “Don’t worry, help is coming!” Instead of making me feel better, that phrase struck fear in my heart and my mind began to protest… I do not have time to train anyone to help me, I cannot afford to hire anyone, what if they want to change everything, who is coming, will I be able to work with them… the negative thoughts cascaded on and on.
It was right then and there that I realized something had to change… I had to practice being a better receiver. I amped up my meditation practice and made it a priority every single morning, so I could practice receiving guidance, I practiced saying YES when anyone offered me help, I practiced accepting gifts without having to give back in return.
Within two weeks my world completely changed. Liesl and I decided to fold our Shake Topicals business into my online work and Debbi arrived to do the marketing. We took all of our collective expertise and created something cohesive, teachable and simple with our breathe. observe. apply. love. method!
I know for sure that giving and receiving are meant to be in perfect balance in our lifetimes. In order for that to be true we must feel worthy enough to receive. Not because we have earned it with all of our giving… but because it is our birthright. When we settle into the feeling of being worthy and practice allowing things, people and experiences to flow to us, we naturally want to give back and to help from a place of fullness and love.
I understand now that I had it backwards… I thought that I had to give and give in order to earn the right to receive. I also understand that when I allowed myself to receive freely, not only did I attract two partners that make my life fun, exciting and creative, I also co-created something with them that I could not have accomplished on my own!
I humbly ask you to consider where you could be a better receiver in your own life… I promise that this simple switch in perspective will bring you treasures that you could never have imagined! You are worthy and you deserve it!
Much Love,
Comentarios
