What was the HARDEST Part??
Happy warm spring days sweet friends! 🌷☀️
I have been asked a recurring question over the past two weeks… since the launch of our Functional Healing course.
As I ease into some reconnection with friends… some version of the same question keeps arising - “What was the hardest part?’
To my great surprise… My very first initial reaction to that question is embarrassment!
WHAT! How can I be embarrassed about any part of this wonderful thing that we just created?
Oooo shit! I know exactly what the hardest part of this was for me!
Now! What I want to say… is something like this:
Learning to script & film - the written word and the filmed expression of that word, do not always mesh.
It was about half way through the course that we hit a groove of understanding how to write for film… that was a pretty big learning curve for Liesl, Debbi and I!
Film editing & graphics for me… sound effects, post production polish & project management for Liesl… and course & website design & buildout for Debbi - Holy Doodle! We learned sooo many different platforms, programs and apps.
This is something that I am super proud of! We helped each other learn, came up with tech solutions together and found the platforms that worked for our unique message.
BUT… This was also one of the most surprising and often irritating things to me! I seriously thought that we would just pick a platform, learn it, use it & TAADAA it would be great!
Nope… we are on our third email server… mailchimp… Kit… now CCM. Two (maybe three) website building platforms. I do not even know how many social media schedulers!
Building something in tech was hard for me! (Liesl and Deb have much more experience in this and were relatively unphased!)
Audio editing - is truly an art form! It feels like I could spend the next 10 years studying this medium and still only be ok! I have such respect for artists who self-publish their music. A lot goes into good sound!
There were many challenging pieces to this journey, but for the most part, I was able to put in the hours of learning something new, change my crappy attitude when required and come to a compromise or solution with my soul sister partners!
The thing that has truly been the hardest part of this Functional Healing adventure…the thing that caused me to feel a twinge of embarrassment… is rooted in EGO!
The HARDEST thing was film editing myself and trying not to talk mean smack about myself in my head!
I look much younger and skinnier in my mind's eye!
Honestly, after the first couple of months, this got much better. I got used to seeing myself on film and grew more comfortable with my look. I decided that I wanted to share this information with the world more than I wanted to judge myself harshly!
But every once in a bloated belly or flabby arm wave or unflattering chin angle… it would catch me off guard and startle me and I would think “Good God! I look like my Grandma” and then my next thought would be “Hmm.. I AM a Grandma now!”
The most disconcerting incident was in January of this year.
I was a runner for years and years and this is what I think my bum looks like:

Imagine my surprise when I was editing a portion of a video where I was explaining how to landmark the Gallbladder 30 acupressure point… and I was confronted with a stranger’s ass!
“MY BUTT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THAT!”
“Yes… yes… in fact it does!”
It made me consider having a good cry…but then I decided that I do not want to do this to myself anymore!
I do not judge others around me for perceived imperfections… I love every bit of them! It is what makes each person a unique piece of human artwork!
Why can I not extend that same grace to myself?
What I like to call ‘The Ass Incident’ has ushered in a new kinder inner voice and helped me to embrace aging as a gift and an honor!
It has also helped me get over myself and realize that a positive message and a creative vision is much more important to me!
So… after all of that… today’s functional healing tip is to:
Place a tennis ball 🎾 on your Gallbladerr 30 acupressure point up against a wall
Inhale into GB 30, under the ball
Exhale and relax all of the way down your leg chain and off of your foot
Breathe 3x
Switch and repeat on the other side
This point reduces low back, hip, sciatica and knee pain.
Here is ‘The Ass Incident’ picture (directly from the video) to help you landmark GB30:
