Permission to Cocoon
Sweet Friend, did the sudden darkness catch you by surprise this week? 🌙
For the Western provinces the clocks have not fallen back, and all at once the lingering shadows and darkness of the morning is more apparent.
If you’re finding yourself a little disoriented… arriving at work or starting your day in what feels like the middle of the night and then in the evening you may find yourself fighting the urge to put on pajamas at five o'clock?!
You are not alone!
It's so easy to greet this time of year with a sigh, mourning the long golden evenings of summer and the sun in your eyes on your morning commute to work… moments that now feel very far away.
This year, let’s try meeting the darkness differently. Nature isn't fighting it… it leans in and embraces this part of the year that wraps itself in shadows.
The animals are burrowing, the earth is resting, and everything is quietly turning inward to conserve and restore.
There's deep wisdom in this rhythm, and we… me and you… are every bit a part of it 🧡
What if this darker season isn't something stolen from us, but something gently offered… an invitation to slow down, soften, and cocoon?
Consider this your official permission slip...
Permission to light a candle.
Permission to move a little slower in the evenings.
Permission to say no to the overfull calendar and yes to an early night.
Permission to let your body have the extra rest it's quietly asking for, without a shred of guilt.
As you embrace darker mornings and settle into those cozy early evenings, invite your breath to help you arrive.
A few slow, unhurried breaths to tell your nervous system that here, in the warmth and the quiet, you are safe to rest, restore and reset.
We are not meant to bloom at full tilt every month of the year, my sweet friend. The dark season has its own quiet gifts, if we'll only allow ourselves to receive them.
Pull the blanket a little closer, breathe a little slower, and let yourself cocoon… one sweet breath at a time. 🧡
Love,
